The alpine meadows are also in bloom
In late spring, the alpine meadows around Heiligenblut am Großglockner are transformed into a colorful sea of flowers. As soon as the last snow has melted, alpine nature awakens with impressive force: the first gentians are already shining in intense blue amongst the lush green - a sure sign that summer is approaching.
The clear mountain air is filled with the buzzing of bees, and a delicate scent of fresh grass and wild herbs wafts over the meadows. Colorful flowers such as alpine anemone, troll flower and cuckoo flower soon join the gentians and paint the slopes in vibrant colors.
The backdrop could hardly be more impressive: The Großglockner towers majestically in the background, while the picturesque village of Heiligenblut with its famous pilgrimage church blends harmoniously into the landscape. A walk across the blooming meadows is a special experience at this time of year - full of tranquillity, beauty and alpine magic.
