At the moment, we in Heiligenblut am Großglockner are enjoying the continuing fantastic autumn weather. The nights are already bitterly cold and the days, after the sun has fought its way into the sky, are pleasantly warm and sunny. Just in time, I set off on my e-bike to explore the snow line along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
Dreamlike play of colors
The most beautiful time of year for me. The sky is deep blue, the mountain peaks around the Grossglockner are already snow-white and the larch forests glow yellow-orange as if they were on fire. With the sun behind me, it was a fantastic ride along the deserted and car-free Grossglockner High Alpine Road, until the snow line and the increasingly low temperatures "persuaded" me to turn back.
Already bitterly cold on departure
Dry clothing, warm gloves and a hood under your helmet - with this equipment, you can set off on the descent. You can clearly see that winter is already dominating the high mountains. The atmosphere with the view of the mountains already makes you feel like winter, and the views of the ski area confirm your mood. One more thing about the larches: as long as the yellow needles are hanging on the trees, the snow won't stay; only when all the needles have fallen to the ground does the fresh snow reliably settle on the ground, the slopes and the ski pistes - a little farmer's saying to finish!
I'm looking forward to a sporty winter season in Heiligenblut am Großglockner!
